Storm slams Mass., bringing hurricane-strength winds

Thursday is a good day to stay home, curl up under a blanket, and hope the power doesn?t go out.

Here?s a look at the key factors contributing to this storm and a gauge of how serious an event it could turn out to be.

? 10 to 14 inches of snow are forecast in Boston and areas west and north.

? Snowfall will be heaviest from around 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

? MBTA subway trains are on a normal schedule, with commuter rail trains on reduced service. Buses are running snow routes.

? Boston's snow emergency took effect at 7 a.m.

? Power outages are possible because of high winds.
